About Us
Located along the stunning Bay of Fundy and just steps from the iconic St. Martins Sea Caves, The Caves Restaurant has been a cherished local landmark since 1982. Founded by Bruce and Nancy Huttges, and now operated by Bruce and daughter Natasha, the restaurant has stayed true to its roots—serving delicious seafood and other dishes with a warm Maritime welcome. Generations of locals have worked here, and it continues to be a gathering place for friends, families, and visitors from around the world.
We’re best known for our creamy, seafood-packed chowder—a family recipe served fresh daily. With over 50,000 liters enjoyed each season, it’s a must-try alongside favorites like our seafood casserole and fish & chips. We’re proud to be featured in Flavour Network Canada’s list of top East Coast seafood restaurants and to hold TripAdvisor’s Traveller’s Choice and Certificate of Excellence awards.

Q: Do you take reservations?
A: We do not accept reservations for groups under 20 people. Our large dining space allows us to seat most parties quickly—even during peak times!

Q: Are you licensed to serve alcohol?
A: We are fully licensed and proudly offer a refreshing selection of local beer, wine, cider, and seltzers.
Q: What are your must-try dishes?
A: Our Seafood Casserole, made-from-scratch Fish & Chips, and daily fresh Chowder are longtime guest favorites. We serve over 50,000 liters of chowder each year!

A: Absolutely. Our chowder is made fresh in-house every single day!
Q: Do you accommodate large groups like tour buses or clubs?
A: Yes! Our spacious restaurant seats up to 350 guests, and we welcome motorcycle and car clubs, as well as visitors from all over the world. If you're a large group, please reach out in advance so we can make your experience seamless.
Q: Are you near the sea caves?
A: Yes! We’re located right on the beach at 82 Big Salmon River Road, just steps from the famous sea caves. You can't miss us!
Q: Is there parking for ATVs or motorcycles?
A: We’re conveniently located for ATV-ers and road trippers alike, and we’re exploring options for dedicated parking for motorcycle and car clubs. If you are coming with a large group of vehicles, reach out in advance to discuss.
Q: Do you have vegetarian, gluten-free, or lighter options?
A: We do! In addition to our seafood and burger selections, we offer salads and other lighter fare. We also provide gluten-free options, including gluten-free hamburger buns.
Q: Where do you source your beef?
A: We use fresh beef for our burgers, sourced directly from Huttges General Merchants right here in St. Martins—supporting local and keeping it delicious.
Q: Can I order takeout?
A: Yes! While we don’t currently offer online ordering, you’re welcome to call us directly to place a takeout order. We don't do takeout orders via email, only over the phone.
